Los Altos Elementary Principal Ms. Silebi presented an achievement report at the Oct. 15 Board meeting, citing measured growth on CAASPP and ELPAC assessments in English language arts and math. She recognized 11 students who had reclassified from English learner status and named them: Kevin Bernal; Andy Gutierrez; Geovani Hernandez-Montes; Darla Iglesias; Aaron Miranda-Torres; Aryanna Nevarez; Jared Ramos; Jeimy Rivera Pena; Ozval Valerio; Victor Vaquera Arias.
During a brief question-and-answer exchange, Dr. Natalia Barajas asked how the school uses STAR 360 assessment data. Principal Silebi said "the data is used during data chats and goals are being set with students and parents to help our students." Trustee Francisco Santana commented positively on the school's recognition of Latino Heritage Month.
The presentation focused on school-level assessment results and teacher collaboration to set goals; the Board received the report with no formal action required.
