Staff outlines fall grant calendar, bus tours and efforts to reduce meeting load

During staff comments at the Feb. 3 meeting, Janie Christenson thanked committee members for their work on the current award cycle and outlined plans for the upcoming application season. She said staff will start the next CDBG public-service and ESG application process in the fall and aims to reproduce successful elements from this cycle, including splitting the public hearing and conducting bus tours.
"We will start this is we've just funded the 2nd year. In the fall, we will start the new grant application for CDBG public service and ESG," Christenson said. She added staff aim to be ready when HUD confirms final numbers and asked members to advise early about travel or other absences so staff can maintain a full board for fall hearings.
Department manager Rick Damien also addressed the committee, thanking members for their dedication and saying the department values their insight. "Your insight, your dedication to this process, your expertise is invaluable in helping us get these monies out for the community," Damien said.
