County rolls out wellness-fair schedule after health-plan changes; Oswald named new vendor

County staff outlined a schedule of five wellness-fair events to inform employees about recent health-plan changes ahead of open enrollment. The fairs are set for Aug. 18 (11 a.m.-1 p.m., Administration Building), Sept. 8 (10 a.m.-noon, Collection Center Education Center), Sept. 9 (10 a.m.-noon, Board of Elections), Sept. 10 (11 a.m.-1 p.m., Administration Building), and Sept. 15 (6 p.m.-8 p.m., at Murray Ridge/Public Health facility).
An agency official said the county worked with Oswald, which recently acquired the hospitalization business from Minuteman, to develop tutorials to be posted through NeoGov for employees who cannot attend in person. Commissioners noted the county is self-funded and that health-plan expenditures had been growing toward $5 million per year, prompting the recent changes. "They did a wonderful job," one commissioner said of HR staff; the board commended staff for thorough work and broad outreach plans.
Staff said tweaks are expected as open enrollment approaches and that additional communications will be provided to ensure employees understand new plan options and resources.
