Council approves purchase of automated brine production system to support snow-and-ice operations

Shaw summarized vendor research and testing at a national convention and recommended a Brine Boss system from Kaleida Truck (Walbridge), made by Veritec Industries, with a purchase price of $116,500. "This is a Brine Boss automated salt brine production system," Shaw said. "The purchase price is $116,500." Ordinance 86-2026 authorizing acceptance of the proposal and appropriation passed as an emergency measure.
Staff said the existing system will be moved to a surplus sale (GOB deals) where parts may retain value; the department expects the new system will improve snow-and-ice operations for the next winter season.
