Council approves change orders cutting two road project contracts by roughly $281,000 combined

Joe Shaw reported final change order results for two recent public‑works projects: the Bruin Road/Ravine Drive traffic signal project finished under budget with an additional decrease of $141,221.98 from the original contract, and council approved a separate change order lowering the Paroon Road/Ravine Drive intersection improvement contract by $140,474.98.
Shaw called the signal-project result "10.8% under" the originally awarded bid and presented the final contract amount. Council moved and approved ordinance 82‑2026 to accept the intersection project decrease as an emergency measure.
"Now that we have completed all items on the project, we know what our final cost… I am happy to report that we have a decrease in the overall contract amount, an additional $141,221.98," Shaw said. Council approved the subsequent ordinance reducing the Paroon Road contract by about $140,474.98.
