The South El Monte Planning Commission completed its reorganization during the March 25 special meeting, electing Kenneth Tang as vice chair and Commissioner Rubio as chair.
A motion to nominate Kenneth Tang as vice chair was made, seconded and approved by roll-call vote. For chair, commissioners nominated and approved Commissioner Rubio; Chair Ortiz formally handed the gavel to Commissioner Rubio, who expressed appreciation for the nomination and said she looked forward to working with the commission despite being under the weather.
"I appreciate the nomination. I'm excited to work to continue to work with you guys," Commissioner Rubio said after accepting the gavel.
The commission thanked outgoing officers for their service; the meeting then continued with the remaining agenda items.
