Council authorizes City Manager to execute MLK Recreation Center roof replacement project

Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 2026-54 on third reading to authorize the City Manager to execute the project agreement for the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center roof replacement (City Project No. 2026-126) and to perform associated contracting duties, including advertising for bids, selecting the lowest most qualified bidder and administering construction services. Mayor Petrella declared the ordinance duly adopted; the ordinance is scheduled to take effect July 30, 2026.
Mr. Mayo called the question and council voted all ayes. The ordinance gives the City Manager specific authority to proceed with engineering design services, bidding and construction administration, enabling the city to progress toward replacing the recreation center roof.
