Stantec says April–June blasts met quarry vibration and overpressure limits

A Stantec representative told the Quarry Monitoring Committee on July 28 that there were 28 blasting events during the April–June 2026 monitoring period and that the company’s monitors showed the site remained within the planned development district limits.
“There were a total of 28 blasting events for the 2nd 0.25,” the Stantec representative said, and added that roughly 17 of the 28 (just over 60%) were confirmed by Stantec monitors collocated with the Payne and Dolan monitors. The presenter said some blasts were not detected on Stantec instruments likely because of the monitor locations relative to where the blast occurred in the pit.
On compliance, the Stantec representative said no blasts in the quarter recorded vibration greater than 0.3 inches per second and that year-to-date blasts were 100% in compliance with the district’s vibration limits. The presentation also said air-overpressure readings did not exceed the 123-decibel threshold during the quarter or year to date.
Committee members asked technical questions about monitor placement and confirmation rates. The presentation closed with the committee accepting the report for discussion at the next meeting; the transcript does not record a formal roll-call vote to accept the report in this segment.
