City Manager reports $6,429 insurance distribution, staff training approval, and election mailings

City Manager Michael Stelmaszek told the council on July 6 that the city's MMRMA Board authorized an annual distribution to Kingsford of $6,429. Stelmaszek also asked the council to approve a training request for employee Holly Palmer to attend Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) training in Negaunee on Aug. 27–28 and test Aug. 31; the cost cited was $150 plus expenses, and council approved the request unanimously.
Stelmaszek said John Holland from the Michigan Rural Water Association (MRWA) visited city hall on June 29 to gather information for a new water and sewer fund rate study. He also told the council the city mailed 3,004 summer tax bills and 828 absentee ballots for the Aug. 4, 2026 primary election. Council voted to receive and place the manager's report on file.
