The Gunter City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the Gunter Independent School District to document both parties’ intent to cooperate if the city needs future access to a lift station on GISD property.
Adam Adams summarized the measure as “just basically the statement of both parties to do that because we neither party had enough specifics at the time.” Council and staff agreed the MOU is nonbinding and will not commit either party to specific improvements until capacity and design are known. The council asked for a termination clause; staff agreed to add it and the motion to accept the MOU with that clause passed.
Council discussed how lift‑station improvements could be funded and the possibility of private developers contributing to upsizing capacity if needed. The MOU was approved to provide a framework for further negotiation should the property purchase or development trigger the need for access.
