Pine County moves Veterans Memorial Forest dedication to Berger Memorial Park; ceremony set for April 26

Pine County Forester Greg Beck told the board the Veterans Memorial Forest dedication will be relocated because spring road conditions made the original site impassable. The board discussed the event plans and acknowledged the change in location.
Beck said the county’s Memorial Forest program covers more than 36,200 acres dedicated to veterans and that the new ceremony site at Jackie Berger Memorial Park, north of Duquesne, is roughly a half-mile from the previously selected site. He said the ceremony will be held April 26 at 10:30 a.m., with the American Legion posting colors, music from the East Central Eagles Band, and short remarks by county officials and veterans including Brad Jensen and Reese Frederson. “When it first occurred, the initial spark... was that there would be a message for people to stop and reflect,” Beck said, explaining the intent of installed memorial signage.
The board accepted the location change and thanked Beck and township officials for permitting use of the park. County staff said signage and event logistics are being finalized and that the county will publicize the updated location and time.
