Gunter public‑works director reports 122 potholes patched, seeks contractor for edge repairs

Adam Adams, the city’s director responsible for parks and public services, told the council the city patched roughly 122 potholes over the past two weeks using cold patch before running out of material and that some edge failures will require contracted overlays rather than cold patch.
“Last 2 weeks, we have cold cold patch, a 122 potholes in the city of Gunner till we ran out material,” Adams said, describing current pothole response and materials limitations. He explained that center‑of‑lane potholes can usually be handled with cold patch but edge failures and concrete panel replacement typically require contracting an overlay or panel replacement and that staff plans to pursue contracts and interlocal agreements with the county where appropriate.
Adams also briefed council on an upcoming drainage presentation to the MDD from Dean Al Perkins. He said the proposed two‑phase drainage study lists an estimated Phase 1 cost of about $151,500 and Phase 2 alternates and deliverables around $143,000; funding and possible reductions will be discussed with the MDD on June 19.
Council discussed using a county interlocal agreement to maintain newly graded roads and the need to address culvert capacity on routes feeding into State Highway 289.
