Horton Fields complete; ribbon cuttings and county-funded equipment approved

City staff reported Horton Fields are complete with a ribbon cutting planned mid–late April; council approved county-funded field equipment purchases and a batting cages ribbon cutting March 27.
City Administrator Kevin Bronson told council that Horton Fields are complete and that a ribbon cutting is likely in mid to late April; he noted that Herb and Ben will decide if kids may begin using the fields earlier. He also announced Atlanta Braves baseball/softball clinics coming to Horton Fields on April 11 and a 10u and 12u all-stars softball tournament in June.
Council approved bid awards for two to three large pieces of field maintenance equipment using $50,000 allocated by Oconee County during the current fiscal year. Bronson also announced a ribbon cutting for new batting cages on March 27, a project funded through county recreation funding. Motions to approve field equipment purchases passed unanimously.
