Resident presses council on stalled Progress Way repairs and raises tax concerns

James R. McClure Jr. addressed the council during the public-comment portion to ask about the status and expected completion date for Progress Way, noting the project began at the end of March and a lane remained uncompleted in mid-September. He pressed for a timetable and said the slow completion is a continuing concern for nearby residents.
McClure also raised concerns about year-over-year budget figures and property assessments, asserting that some assessments were "going through the roof on purpose to create to avoid the circuit breakers." Staff responded that assessments are controlled by the county assessor, not the town, and explained that the town's published figures are provisional and subject to reduction before final adoption. "The assessments are not controlled by the town, those are controlled by the county," staff said during the exchange.
