CTE leaders update Board on SkillsUSA qualifiers and Fire Technology course planning

CTE and SkillsUSA advisors updated the Board on student competition results and pathway activities. Emily Brown reported that four students advanced out of Region 4 to State-level SkillsUSA competitions and that the Board had approved the SkillsUSA conference trip (April 10–13) to Ontario.
CTE Department Head Corine Maday briefed trustees on pathway courses and said a Fire Technology course is being pursued for fall 2025, pending instructor availability and final approvals. Maday said staff and counselors are working on A-G approvals and dual-enrollment pathways with Shasta College for several career programs.
The Board approved the overnight SkillsUSA conference and requested continued outreach to secure funding for enrollment and travel. Brown said staff will continue to seek grant support and fundraising to keep costs down for participating students.
