The Via representative told commissioners the agency purchased two used vehicles from Kalamazoo for a combined charge of $3,750 as a trial, saying the vehicles had high mileage "about a 180 to a 190,000 miles, about 200,000 miles" but ran well on test drives and were being serviced and decaled for service.
Staff said they are working with the FTA on approvals for other vehicle purchases and that two additional vehicles are expected for delivery in August or September. The representative noted a desire for more electric vehicles in future fleet planning but emphasized that immediate needs require reliable vehicles to maintain service.
