Staff describes plugging plan for Country Lane well, says Barton Springs and TCEQ notified

The staff member described the planned plugging procedure for the existing Country Lane well and said the city has secured necessary notices and approvals. "We have the Barton Springs District approval, and we've notified the TCEQ," the staff member said, and went on to explain the physical steps: "So we'll be pour sanitized gravel down into the well bore itself, and we will fill that hole with gravel up to within 10 feet or so of the bottom of the casing, and then from that level up to the service surface, there will be a cement grout that will be placed under pressure… all the way to surface."

Officials said the plugged well will be covered at the surface and that the fence around the site will be salvaged and relocated after the new well is drilled. Staff emphasized that once plugged and covered, "you won't know it's there once it's all done," and urged the committee that the city would secure the perimeter during and after work. The staff member estimated the plugging work would "not exceed 2 days, 2 working days, 2 8 hour days." Staff committed to circulate final scheduling and the updated Gantt chart to committee members once BK Drilling confirms mobilization.
