Frontier Communications presented plans to bring a fiber‑to‑the‑home network to Gunter, saying construction would begin next month with an initial build covering roughly 400 homes and a target completion by the end of September.
“We plan to begin construction next month with the goal of wrapping up construction by the end of September. We’re planning our initial build out again to the copper footprint,” said Mister Russell, the company representative. He described the network as symmetrical and capable of offering residents speeds of up to 7 gigabits per second and said the company will use directional boring for buried runs to avoid cutting city streets. He added contractors will photograph streets before work so crews can restore conditions afterward.
Councilors asked about homeowner impacts for irrigation and landscaping; Russell said contractors are liable for two years after installation and that typical warranty processes would cover accidental damage. He also said the company will provide the customer device needed to deliver gigabit speeds in homes. Frontier said it will provide public information through door hangers, temporary signs, and a QR code directing residents to construction schedules and contact information.
