The DPW provided a broad operations and projects update at the April 7 work session. Officials said Yoakum St. Park is completed with a berm behind the park scheduled to be finished by May 2025. Linwood Phase 3 planning is underway, including soil testing; paving of Linwood Avenue is planned in the near term. The department is establishing a two-year cycle for drain cleaning and maintenance.
The minutes also record equipment and repair items: Highway 15 requires engine repair estimated at $6,963.65. Street lighting will be added at the Melville Road/Secatogue Avenue intersection by Town of Oyster Bay Lighting, and Altice is to submit plans to LIRR for North Main Street work (awaiting final plans and cost estimates). DPW crews assisted with a water-service leak at 345 Staples Street and completed related temporary road-patch repairs; crews are continuing pothole repairs and other routine maintenance.
