Board elects Michelle Coleman president and Amy Sharp vice president

At its Dec. 18 meeting the Solano County Board of Education elected Michelle Coleman president and Amy Sharp vice president following roll-call votes; trustees also appointed Theresa Lavelle as the county school boards association representative.
The Solano County Board of Education on Dec. 18 elected Michelle Coleman as board president and Amy Sharp as vice president for the coming term.
Trustee Cohen Thompson moved to elect Coleman as president and Trustee Cheek seconded the motion; the board then conducted a roll-call vote that carried the motion. The board later nominated and approved Amy Sharp to serve as vice president through December 2025, and trustees also approved Theresa Lavelle as the Solano County School Boards Association representative.
The leadership changes followed the administration of oaths to trustees elected in November. The meeting record shows the oath was administered to Trustees Michelle Coleman, Peggy Cohen Thompson and Elise Cheek by Fairfield City Councilperson Patrice Williams, and to Trustee Amy Sharp by Supervisor John Vasquez.
The actions were procedural and were taken by formal motion and roll-call; the agenda, consent items and officer elections all passed by voice or roll-call votes during the session.
