Deborah Long, representing property owner Ron Novak, asked the Board to approve a licensing agreement permitting SES Environmental to access city property adjacent to 7305 Kennedy Avenue to continue environmental assessment related to a suspected petroleum release at the nearby Golo gas station.
Long (speaker 8) told the Board the consultant needs to continue taking soil and water samples "in order to determine the extent of contamination" and that approval "would allow the continuation of the assessment of this site, monitoring soil sampling and water sampling, and will serve as a basis for remediation, if they find residual contamination." Hammond environmental staff recommended the license agreement. The Board voted to approve the agreement.
The license enables consultants to collect data that the City and the consultant will use to evaluate the site and determine whether remediation actions are required; the contractor will analyze samples against regulatory standards and report results to the city as part of any further remediation planning.
