The Greensboro Fire Department has officially reopened Fire Station 8 in the Glenwood neighborhood following a renovation project led by Samick Corporation, city staff said in the weekly briefing.
Originally constructed in 1970, Fire Station 8 has served the Glenwood community for more than five decades. "Now, after 56 years of continuous service, the station has been transformed through a renovation led by Samick Corporation, creating a modern functional facility designed to meet the evolving needs of firefighters and the residents they protect," the staff member said.
Last week, firefighters and the community ceremonially unscrewed a fire hose coupling to mark the station's official opening, the briefing added. City staff presented the reopening as an investment in public-safety infrastructure for the Glenwood area; no renovation cost or contract details were provided in the flash briefing.
