"We have a huge Hispanic population," said a board member who urged Thorpe to add that language to the community description; Thorpe agreed to add figures and update the announcement. Another member suggested a short line describing the new CTech center as "a one of a kind facility" to improve candidate awareness of district resources.
Thorpe said he would collect the demographic figures and incorporate the suggested language into the vacancy announcement and the district-specific sections of the application materials.
