The White Pine County Agricultural District board described ongoing maintenance work at the fairgrounds, including started repairs to the grandstands and requests for adjusted budget authority so crews can continue track-rail work. "Maintenance is in need of approval from the board to adjust the monetary needs to continue moving forward with the track railing," Member Bill Panagopoulos said during the March 9 meeting.
Panagopoulos reported crews are replacing the bottom and top rows of the grandstand boxes with pressure-treated lumber and plan to use varied materials elsewhere to address safety concerns within the approved budget. He said windows on the blue building have been replaced, materials for catwalk repairs have been ordered, and concrete was measured for poured pads outside man doors. A purchase order for weed treatment was approved. The board did not authorize a specific new line-item at that time; several items remain pending quotes or further action by maintenance.
