Supervisors move proposed North Fair Oaks transitional home off consent after neighborhood objections

Supervisor Michael Gauthier said he wanted more conversation with residents and moved that item 26 be pulled from the consent agenda and returned to the board on Sept. 9; the board approved the motion.
The board’s action was procedural — no contract or purchase was finalized Aug. 26. The clerk recorded the motion and the consent agenda was approved unanimously with the modification to move items 1 and 26 to Sept. 9. Residents who addressed the board asked that the county publish the operator name, explain intake and curfew rules, and share contingency plans if the site’s operator fails or funding is insufficient.
The board’s decision directs staff to provide additional community engagement and to return with the item on Sept. 9. Until those materials are on the record, the board took no final action to approve the purchase or conversion.
