Parents tell board: keep facilitators and coordinators to maintain connections

Parents said those roles make classroom visits and workshops feel welcoming rather than transactional.
Speakers recommended concrete implementation steps: maintain facilitator staffing, create school-specific calendars and invite community partners into schools and community venues (parks, libraries) to reach caregivers who cannot attend daytime meetings. Several parents said when facilitator positions are closed or shifted, outreach falls apart: "Tristemente, cuando se cierra ese... cuando se cierra ese puesto, no vamos a saber qué hacer," a parent said, urging continuity of the coordinator roles.
Board members acknowledged these reports and said the district will consider the feedback in upcoming planning.
