The Board of Selectmen reviewed correspondence about the town mill rate and clarified that the Board of Finance and the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) have the authority to set the mill rate.
Kim Allen, Director of Finance, said the Board of Finance officially approved the mill rate on May 27 and submitted it to the state along with the approved annual budget. A form discussed by board members showed "24.54 mils" as the rate on the page, and selectmen asked procedural questions about how the tax warrant and signatures are processed.
Board members noted that if the correspondence requires action from the Selectmen it will appear on a future agenda; otherwise they accepted it as correspondence for the record.
