Contractors say new Monroe high school is substantially complete as punch list work continues

Contractors and district leaders told the Monroe School District Board on July 27 that construction on the new high school is substantially complete, with only punch-list and site-finishing items remaining.
Tony from CD Schmidt said the project hit several major checkpoints recently, including a passed health inspection for the kitchen, occupancy approvals for the buildings and completion of track surfacing and paving. “We passed our health inspection,” Tony told the board, and added that low-voltage systems — door access, cameras, Wi‑Fi, clocks, PA and building automation — are in the final testing and commissioning stages.
Superintendent Joe and district staff said the administration continues to walk the building with the contractor and architect to close out remaining items. Ryan from Huffman Kiel, the owner's representative, said the site and branding are nearly finished but cautioned that some graphics and signage will come later. Ryan noted that fundraising from past graduating classes will be applied to the front‑of‑site sign currently being installed.
District comments placed the building size in the range discussed during the presentation and emphasized that, while most major work is complete, there will be ongoing adjustments once the building is in use. Board members who toured the facility reported high confidence in the project’s readiness for the opening season, while asking staff to continue prioritizing remaining punch-list items.
