Council adopts Section 8 annual plan and accepts HUD grant to launch family self‑sufficiency program

The council unanimously approved Resolution J8 to adopt the City of Peekskill Section 8 annual housing plan for 2025 after the plan was made available for at least 45 days and a public hearing was held Sept. 9, 2024. Councilwoman Talbot moved the adoption and the measure carried without opposition.
Separately, Resolution J10 authorized acceptance of a $56,250 grant award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to implement a family self‑sufficiency program tied to the Section 8 voucher program. Councilman Scott, who moved the acceptance, said the grant will fund a small pilot of home‑ownership education and related programming with the intent to expand services over time.
