Trustees press vendor on staffing impact, automation controls and legal discovery

John Grama, the PowerSchool representative, said the district configures ranking and disqualifying criteria and that the vendor does not make autonomous hiring decisions: "There's nothing in here that makes decisions for you." Trustees also asked whether the company had faced litigation alleging unfair exclusion; Grama replied he was not aware of such a case in his nearly four years of experience and said the vendor can provide auditor access and export capabilities to support legal review.
Why it matters: trustees want assurance that the system supports equitable hiring and that records remain accessible for audits or subpoenas. The board requested follow-up on the contract's history, specific configuration options and confirmation about discoverability and data portability before advancing procurement decisions.
