PowerSchool rep demonstrates automated hiring tools, Edjoin link and onboarding workflow
Summary
A PowerSchool representative showed trustees how the vendor's applicant-tracking system automates background checks and onboarding, integrates with Edjoin, and creates an employee profile with a one-click 'begin hire' workflow; trustees pressed staff on records retention and operational controls.

On Nov. 13 the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District Board of Trustees heard a demonstration from John Grama of PowerSchool of an applicant-tracking and onboarding system the vendor says can automate employment-history verification and background screening. The presentation emphasized integration with Edjoin, a nationwide job board, and automated onboarding tasks to speed hiring and create auditable records.
Grama said the product can embed a link in Edjoin so applicants go to the vendor's application, which then allows automatic scheduling, background checks and export/import to a district ERP. "It gives you the access then in the application to all of the the things that you see in front of you now," Grama said. He described an attestation applicants sign: "an attestation form that basically says that all of the information that's here on my application is complete, thorough, and true." That attestation, Grama said, plus automated checks can flag discrepancies for district reviewers.
The demonstration included the onboarding flow: "with 1 click of a button, it's called begin hire," Grama said, which creates an employee profile and an onboarding checklist that can reproduce documents such as insurance enrollment forms for completion before an employee's first day. Grama also addressed storage and portability: the vendor stores documents on Amazon Web Services but, he said, "those are your records" and districts can export data and delete documents under their control. "So we don't we don't delete anything ever," Grama stated when describing standard vendor practices and the option for districts to manage deletions.
Why it matters: trustees said the automation could speed recruiting and reduce paperwork, particularly for classified positions. Trustees and staff asked follow-up questions about configuration, ranking and disqualification criteria so the district, not the software, controls hiring outcomes. The board asked staff to follow up on unanswered technical questions after the presentation.
