Dennis described the East Coast Greenway as a "3,000 miles, multi use greenway from Canada to Key West" and emphasized that the route is designed both for short local trips and for long-distance travel. He said the corridor spans 15 states and Washington, D.C., connecting urban and rural places while supporting daily recreation and long-distance trips.
He provided usage and completion figures, stating the organization now has about 1,100 miles completed and that the corridor has "50,000,000 bike rides, runs, and walks on the Greenway every year," which he used to underline the national scale of the project. He framed the Greenway as simultaneously a local amenity and a large-scale regional infrastructure project.
