Elementary superintendent reports staffing gains, enrollment up to about 645; warns of costly internet upgrade in 2026

The elementary superintendent reported staffing updates, growing enrollment and infrastructure needs while giving the board several operational updates for the coming year.
"As of 2026, it's kinda like every time you buy a new iPhone, they change the charger because they don't they want you to have to buy a new charger," the superintendent said in explaining that the elementary Internet hardware and service will require an expensive replacement by 2026. She said technology staff had warned district leaders the current internet lifespan would end that year and that the upgrade will be costly.
On staffing, the superintendent said the district remains short in some areas but was “feeling good about where we're at,” noting a remaining vacancy in the birth-to-3 position and the removal of a long-term second-grade substitute need. She reported student counts of roughly 645 students across grade levels (high school up 14 with nine leaving, middle school up 14 with five leaving, elementary up 10 with nine leaving).
The superintendent also noted facility work over the summer, ash-tree removal priorities near buildings, and that the career & technical education levy due Aug. 29 looked promising. She asked trustees to be aware of negotiations timing and to expect more detail on a required MOU with staff for an upcoming training schedule.
