The Kenyon-Wanamingo School District board approved a month-long sponsorship fundraiser to help the high school band attend the Minnesota Music Educators Conference in February.
"We would be seeking, you know, around $3,000, to to cover this," said Claire Larson, who told trustees the ensemble was invited to perform at the conference and that the district would seek donations through a Google form with donor recognition included in the program. The board approved the fundraiser without discussion, with a motion and second recorded by the chair.
Larson said sponsorships would support guest clinicians, section coaching, transportation, color guard and student meals as funds allow. She described the drive as a September–October solicitation window and asked the district and community to help beyond what Band Boosters can provide.
Trustees also noted the district had committed to transportation for the trip. The board approved the activity/fundraiser request with a unanimous vote.
