Council approves $212,745 contract to repair Rainey Well pumps and wiring

Utility superintendent Steven Bradshaw reported the Rainey Well suffered a catastrophic failure in November that destroyed pumps and motors and left wiring—some dating to the 1970s—fried. Staff solicited bids and received a single bidder to replace wiring and pumps.
"Back in November, I had a catastrophic failure, lost both pumps and motors," Steven Bradshaw said. "The wiring is from the '70s... so we need to replace it." The council authorized the mayor to award a contract to Service Electric Co., Inc. in the amount of $212,745; staff said pump replacement and associated work are expected to be completed by the end of September so the Stillaguamish Treatment Plant can return to service.
The motion passed with unanimous support. The city will monitor progress through the utility superintendent and expect restored treatment capacity following completion of the work.
