Arcadia Unified details summer facilities work, new portables and solar plans

Arcadia Unified facilities staff summarized an intensive summer of work and pointed the board and public to a new online construction newsletter with photos and status updates. The presentation covered completed modernization work — including demolished and rebuilt locker rooms, temporary portables installed to provide interim locker and classroom space, and playground replacements with rubberized surfacing and shade structures — and described a corridor and gating project that now links the early learning center to Baldwin Stocker Elementary.
"We recently enhanced our facilities website with a summer newsletter, which offers a detailed explanations and highlights the status of projects as the summer concludes," Mr. Barrios told the board, urging community members to view the project photos online. He also listed recent site work (painting, roofing, vehicle bollards at Arcadia High) and said the district is progressing on planning districtwide solar shade structures that could be installed over parking lots or play areas to provide shade and generate energy.
Board members asked practical questions about solar panel placement and safety; staff responded that arrays would be sited and angled to minimize ball impacts and that some athletic outfield areas would be excluded.
