Marysville introduces 2026 summer interns as city plans to continue program

Director Hodgson and HR business partner Allison Engstrom described the city’s summer intern program, which began in its current format with the 2023 biennium budget and continued into 2025 and 2026. Allison said the program offers hands‑on municipal experience and weekly professional development for recent high‑school graduates and college students.
"The internships range anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, and we host up to 6 interns each season," Allison Engstrom said, adding that departments from communications to engineering participate. Allison introduced the interns attending the meeting, including Matthew Dibella (information systems) and Connor Olmstead (communications), and noted staff plan to propose the program again in the next biennium budget.
Council and the mayor thanked the interns for their work and noted the city will recognize them on National Intern Day later in the week.
