Legislature narrows transportation contract award to routes with assigned students
Summary
Lawmakers amended a transportation-services resolution to restrict initial awards to routes that currently have students assigned and to rebid routes only if students are later assigned; the amendment and the resolution as amended passed.
The legislature considered Resolution 181, which would authorize the county executive to enter into a contract for transportation services on bid O-4-26. The Chair proposed and read a change to the third whereas clause that would limit initial awards to routes that already have students assigned and require rebidding of routes that later get students.
"Whereas at this time, the department only wants to move forward with awarding the RFP to the routes that have students assigned to ride in the event that any of the routes that do not currently have students end up with students in the future, those routes will be rebid," the Chair read when proposing the amendment. Legislators Majewski and Kowalczyk sponsored the amendment; it passed on voice vote. The legislature then voted on Resolution 181 as amended, recorded the result as passed, and noted recorded abstentions from the roll call.
