Board approves three instructional coaches and multiple staffing changes ahead of school year

The board approved a package of human-resources actions designed to support campuses ahead of next school year. Administration asked for three instructional coach positions to be funded from Title II Part A (fund 255) to support writing instruction at Chavira, Lamar and Calderon elementaries; the board approved the positions unanimously.
Dr. Carlos Rios said the coaches will be selected from high-performing teachers and will work with multiple teachers on campuses to accelerate student gains, noting the role will be teacher‑paid with a stipend to recognize coach duties. The administration also requested six excess teacher positions to strengthen co‑teach supports and course staffing at middle schools, conversion of an assistant-principal intern to a high-school vice principal, and other reassignments and job-description updates; the board approved the items and asked administration to manage transfers under board policy and provide job descriptions and stipend details to the board as they are finalized.
