Hector Chapo presented a multi-site facilities update to trustees, outlining progress on district projects and recent maintenance performance metrics.
Chapo reported that three of four roofing areas are complete and the final cap layer began this week; after that, metal roofing replacements over the mechanic and welding shops will proceed. He said the San Felipe Memorial Middle School gym floor replacement is complete pending insulation coverage work and that Lamar Elementary’s exposed playground set was replaced and will receive a canopy. Chapo also said the guard shack at the high school will receive gates and that vendor installation of a portion of fence at Del Rio Middle School is scheduled the following week. On security, trustees discussed adding badge-reader integration so that staff badges can open gates without leaving vehicles.
Chapo also presented departmental work-order statistics for the prior 90 days: maintenance closure rates varied by age band (e.g., 0–15 days lower closure rate, 61–90 days closure ~76%), technology showed high closure rates (over 80% across bands, 96% in 61–90 days), and transportation closure rates were high (overall 92%, with 61–90 days at 99%). Trustees asked clarifying questions about gate type (sliding, electronic), badge readers, and timeline expectations. Administration will continue coordination with vendors and report back on installation timing.
