"I am your mayor, Patricia Guerra Frazier, and we are here celebrating CAFEZY's 30th anniversary," Frazier said as she welcomed attendees and noted the presence of the owner, family members and chamber representative Jim Masterson.
Pat Inglieri, who the mayor identified as Cafe Z’s owner, said the milestone felt like a blessing and noted deep roots in the town. "I grew up in Union. My kids grew up here, so it's great," she said, describing the cafe as a family-oriented place where regulars feel at home.
Masterson, introduced by the mayor as "Mister Masterson" and later addressed as Jim, placed the cafe in local history: "I remember when this place was filled with dairy cows," he said, noting that Cafe Z joined the local chamber decades ago and has been an "incredible community supporter."
Longtime customer Kim recalled early days when the restaurant had a garden and patrons would bring their own liquor; employee Michelle, who identified herself by name, invited the community to visit and enjoy the food.
The mayor closed by encouraging residents to stop by Cafe Z, which Pat Inglieri listed on-site with its address, website and phone number.
