Council considers 5-MW power block purchase via AMP for 2027-2030 at target $55/MWh

Director Matt Hiscock reported that Ordinance No. 26-060 would authorize execution of a 2027-2030 fixed-volume energy supply schedule with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) for a 5-megawatt block of power. He said the block represents about 15% of Wadsworth's portfolio and staff is seeking authority to allow AMP representatives time to work the market over the next months to secure the best price, with an internal cap of $59 per megawatt-hour and a current pricing range around $55/MWh.
Council Member Tom Stugmyer, who sponsored the item, moved to suspend and call to give AMP more time to seek favorable pricing; the ordinance was assigned a number and staff will return if market opportunity requires action.
