Council discusses cemetery paving alternate, Cemetery Board to review options

Service Director Matt Hiscock told Council that the city's annual Street Improvement Program included alternates for cemetery paving and that bids received for those alternates were higher than the Cemetery Board expected. He said the Cemetery Board was reviewing its options and could potentially contract directly with the low bidder to realize savings, but warned about procurement complications if the Cemetery Board's quote differed from the public-bid alternate.
Hiscock advised care so the city's award of the Street Improvement Program is not jeopardized by a separate alternate; Council agreed to hold the ordinance for another reading so the Cemetery Board could meet and clarify scope, pricing and any needed supplemental funding.
