At the start of public comment, Riverbend resident Sarah Powell told trustees she had emailed district staff and brought photos and videos of several incidents at the golf course turnaround where parents park in the center of the roadway and students cross unlit areas to board buses.
Powell said parents sometimes park in the center of the road, open car doors and children run across the golf course to reach buses in low light, creating a hazardous situation for students and golfers. "It is a very big safety concern for the students, the parents, and the community... there aren't any sidewalks for them to walk on," she said, and asked the board to consider "moving it to a different location where the parents can park in an orderly fashion and the kids can get on and off the buses in a safe manner."
Trustees thanked Powell for bringing photos and video and said they would consider the concern; administration noted they had been contacted and will coordinate with the HOA and maintenance to review bus stop location and safety measures.
