Council weighs Seville access road for Brickyard remediation, hopes to use Brownfield funds

Service Director Matt Hiscock told Council that Ordinance No. 26-053 would advertise for bids and award a contract to construct "a temporary construction access roadway and turn around off the road" to give remediation crews access to the Brickyard remediation area. He said remediation dollars and remaining Brownfield grant funds would likely be used and warned that a low bid later could require a supplemental appropriation before award.
Hiscock noted the access road could later serve park users and form the basis for a primary access point if the city expands trail and athletic facilities. Council discussed readings and scheduling; the ordinance received numbering and discussion continued about funding timing and the need to front costs then seek grant reimbursement.
