"My name is Brenda Jones, and I am our federal programs and our assessment coordinator for the district," she told trustees before reviewing results that showed several cohorts increased year over year; she said the 3rd‑grade cohort increased by 9 percent from 2023 to 2024 in reading.
Jones said district strengths include RLA growth and several EOC measures, while math (particularly grades 3–7) and some social‑studies measures remain areas for improvement. To address that, Jones outlined district and campus actions: targeted MTSS supports and small‑group instruction, campus walkthroughs with focused feedback, coaching cycles for secondary English 2 and algebra support, and math‑academy training for teachers. She emphasized that the current data set excludes the district's alternative center and some Spanish assessments, and that enrollment and retester status affect some aggregated figures.
"Meets went up across the board. All our cohorts are growing," Jones said, adding that district leaders would "dive really into the data, see where the struggles are going, come up with a plan of action, and implement those strategies in the classrooms."
