Floresville High to return to traditional bell schedule in 2025–26

"So beginning with the 2025–26 school year, the high school will be shifting back to a traditional bell schedule," Dr. Gilstrap said, explaining the change will allow the district to begin course selections and develop a master schedule for next year. He told trustees the 5×5 model, implemented in 2020–21, has produced mixed results: some high achievers continued to excel while other students struggled with pace and course loads.
Administration said it will communicate details to students and parents in the coming days and work case-by-case with students who have already planned for early graduation or specific pathway experiences. The superintendent described the move as intended to address course-offering and scheduling issues and to give teachers and counselors a clearer platform for advising students.
The board did not take a formal vote on implementation steps at the meeting; administrators said they will follow up with specifics and individual accommodations as they finalize the master schedule.
