The Tinmouth Select Board scheduled an ATV information meeting for June 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the old firehouse to allow proponents to present proposed routes and answer questions from residents.
Board members and public commenters described a proposed route that would use Route 140 and Upper Gulf Road to reach trail systems in Middletown and nearby towns. A resident said she worried about noise and change to the town’s quiet character: "How much more noise pollution am I going to be subjected to when I have…four wheelers…prompting right through my on the roads that I like to travel and walk and have…peace and quiet," she said.
Members discussed holding the informational session on a weekend to maximize turnout and debated whether a formal vote should wait until November rather than August to allow more coordination with neighboring towns. A board member cautioned that ATV insurance policies may not cover incidents on private property and urged the town to check liability coverage before advancing routes.
