Health director says state budget briefly threatened school-based health sites but funding was retained

"Last year, when a state put forth their budget in the state house that looked to eliminate all the funding for those school based health sites…Ultimately, they ended up keeping the funding intact, so we kept our centers," the presenter said. The presenter supplied service counts for specific centers (Taquamanon and Saint Ignis) and discussed challenges for very small schools that may not meet grant-minimum unduplicated-student thresholds.
Commissioners asked whether schools must participate for services to be offered; the department confirmed participation is voluntary and said it will continue outreach and virtual options where feasible.
