City of Carson officials onstage presented the Carson Experience — branded Carson X — as a city-run festival and visitor-activation program tied to the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics that aims to elevate the city globally and create long-term economic opportunity.
"Carson X, we're anticipating anywhere from 25 to 75,000 people a day in our Carson X," City Manager David Roberts said, describing the activation as the city’s version of an Olympic Village-style fan zone. Deputy City Manager Armina Chaparian told attendees the city will host five Olympic sports and three Paralympic sports at venues including Carson Stadium, Carson Courts, Carson Fields and the Velodrome.
Why it matters: city staff said the activation is intended to generate immediate revenue for local businesses during the games and to help position Carson for continued national and international investment after 2028. Officials estimated roughly 1,300,000 total tickets across games and said they expect large daily visitation that will at times double the city’s usual population.
City leaders asked businesses to prepare now — for staffing, permits, inventory and marketing — and said the Carson Experience website will publish applications, a Small Business Readiness Playbook and other resources. Staff emphasized that LA28 pays for the games themselves while the city will absorb costs associated with Carson X activations.
